Neel Shah releases his latest single, “no honeymoon.” Featuring hazy, chill melodies and smooth vocals, “no honeymoon” is a looking glass into the inner workings of a fictional relationship built on heartbreak.
““No honeymoon” is the first single off my debut EP. The song has an interesting premise: A guy has been unexpectedly divorced and is trying to call his ex-fiancée; he now resorts to a voicemail to speak his mind and gain power back for himself. Even though the story of this song was fabricated, I took inspiration from my own friends' breakups and my own fears about entering my first relationship. That's actually what my song "lured me in" is about, which is the prelude to this song, actually,” shares Shah.
“I channeled this one notion when I wrote "no honeymoon": Every step and decision we take is made out of fear and urgency, in one way or another. Even though the beat is more mellow and chill, I'd still consider this somewhat a heartbreak ballad, and I tried to not hold back when it came to singing from my soul. It's a chill song overall, but I also emoted a lot when I recorded it, so hopefully you feel the vibes and heartache in this one song,” Shah explains.
Neel Shah is a multifaceted rising artist, whose songs aim to serve as a diary—with entries detailing self-love, love for others, mental health, and life as a queer person of color. Through his craft, Shah was able to cope with the many challenges he faced during his teen years. His exceptional songwriting abilities gained recognition from artists like J.
