Castle KYD Releases Cathartic Indie Rock Single “Menagerie”

Castle KYD releases his latest single, “Menagerie.” Featuring emotional lyrics and nostalgia-laced melodies, the reflective track focuses on the often repeatable cycle of destructive relationships. 

Although Castle KYD prefers for people to derive their own meaning from “Menagerie,” he discloses his thought process while writing the track:

“I was in my bedroom, laying down on the carpet floor. Frustrated about the predicament that I'm in. To be healthy, I know I need to interact with people. With this effort, I turned into befriending people that I can't match with. The energy spent in this effort began to be exhausting. This has also unlocked memories and feelings that I have been keeping in,” explains Castle KYD. 

He admits that he tends to walk blindly toward people who don’t always have the capacity to reciprocate back. 

“Maybe my trust is just fragile, but after several major failed attempts at establishing deeper connections (and being disappointed at them when it fails), I began to feel more and more closed off from everything,” he shares. 

“I feel like I always meet someone that I adore—and sometimes to the point of worship (which is BAD). These people come along, and they tend to astound me. They lower my defenses. In my desperation, I always tend to ask them the same question internally. That question always seems to be something along the lines of ‘Do you want to get out of here? I never knew how I got into this mess, but I'm tired of it. If you want, I can leave this all behind to start something new with you,’” says Castle KYD. 

At the end of the day though, all Castle KYD wants is to break the cycle and create meaningful, lasting relationships.   

“I’m in college and as with everything in life, it just moves so fast. It’s not like you can stay in one place and be able to keep friends and relationships. Everything moves and [nothing stays the same]. I left a lot of people in my life. I’m thousands of miles away from my original hometown in Texas, so I am not new to change, but I just want to settle down and be anchored by relationships and friends that I could have for most of my life,” states Castle KYD. 

In addition to “Menagerie,” Castle KYD has been working on some exciting projects. He recently released “Final Tape For A Dead Plant,” as well as a slowed and reverbed remix of “Menagerie.” Realizing there’s a niche for remixes as of late, Castle KYD might even have a version in store for each of his five surprise releases, so stay tuned.
