Los Angeles producer VYCE BLOOM (@vycebloom) debuts single ‘HALF-HEARTED’ featuring grammy award winning rapper, singer, songwriter Vory (@vory) and joins us today to share his story leading up to this major success in his music career.

VYCE BLOOM releases new hit “HALF HEARTED” featuring hip-hop artist Vory on Label “FU DOG Music.” With this being his biggest collaboration yet, VYCE plans to set a new tone for his upcoming music. Flourishing rapper/songwriter, Vory, has accolades stretching far and wide from making hit songs with Offset, Rich the Kid, Chantel Jeffries and more. In addition, he has won a Grammy for his work on The Carters' “Everything Is Love” and plans to drop his biggest project yet with a TBD album dropping soon in 2020. You may remember VYCE BLOOM from his previous releases including, “WE ARE” & “WESTSIDE RODEO”, but we guarantee this track will give you a new found respect for the upcoming producer out of California.

Fundamentally, the song stems across several genres and is bound to capture any audience simply from its catchy intro. Singer/songwriter ‘JESS’ starts off the track with lush vocals to set the tone for Vory to come in. Vory then gets into deeper emotions with his melodies and lyrics which brought about the inspiration for the song title “HALF-HEARTED.”

The icing on the cake is the energetic flow of the drop that feels almost emotionally happy, providing the perfect spark to get one in the mindset to dance or cruise down the PCH. The overall track is crisp in its mix and the sound design puts this one over the top. It’s a must listen for those who appreciate producer collaborations and an even better match for people seeking a fresh cross between pop and hip-hop. “HALF-HEARTED” is out now on all platforms.

The track is released on all platforms through record label FU DOG Music (@fudogmusic).

Interview

We sat down with Nick Wood and asked him some questions about his backstory and what brought him to this point in his music career. We asked him what his biggest inspirations were to which he said, “Joji & Diplo probably are my top two - I really love what Diplo is doing. After that, Droeloe is a big favorite. The artists range pretty wide, but the hip hop influences come from Joji, and Pouya.”

There are many things like drive and other healthy habits to make it far in one’s music career. We tried to understand what makes VYCE BLOOM click to which he replied, “I think the only thing I can think about nowadays is music. I make sure it’s the first thing I do in the morning. It’s the only thing I care about right now.” It’s very clear that with his morning routine beginning with simple piano practice, he’s getting his mind right the first thing to start his day.

The course of an artist’s career can take sharp turns if they find themselves progressing quickly - especially when it comes to production. When asked about how he knew he was on the right track in his career he replied, “When 2020 came around and “WE ARE” was released, it had been a whole year since my last release. That song solidified a lot for me with it going so well, and it pushed me forward for my other releases this year.”

We asked VYCE BLOOM about his dream collaboration or project to which he said, “Joji is one of my favorite rap artists. He also brings a lot of emotion into his music so I think we could probably make something special. On the other side of the spectrum of music you have JOYRYDE, bass house. Everything he puts out is CRAZY! Claro is another singer who has become quite big in the last few years that I would also enjoy working with.” His production has been top notch across the board in terms of the genres used in his music throughout his career. We were curious to find out which genre-blending track of his own was his favorite to which he replied, “HALF-HEARTED (feat. Vory) is definitely my favorite track to date. I find myself listening to it in the car over and over again. It’s a great combination between everything I enjoy making & listen to into three minutes of production.”

The pandemic and lockdown haven’t posed as an obstacle in VYCE BLOOM’s path either. We asked him how these times have altered his work habits. With composure he replied, “I think I’ve always done a good job of treating my music career as it is, a real career and taking it seriously. 2020 gave me a structure to keep this moving and with this being my third single this year, I hope to keep the momentum going.”

The music industry is always changing and there are always new articles, books, blogs and other information to give advice and best practices based on the ever-changing day to day that exists in the lives of artists. But VYCE BLOOM took to heart some advice that has helped him recently. He says, “The best advice as of late comes from this book I’m reading called “Think and Grow Rich.” I’m learning about the power of thought and how strong it is, and how they can become physical things  - people can get caught up partying, putting pressure on yourself for a release. These thoughts can be negative and when you find yourself controlling more of those thoughts, making them more positive can really propel yourself forward if you channel it the right way.”

Along the same lines of advice, we tried to figure out how VYCE BLOOM has become more intelligent in his decision making now versus a couple years ago. When asked what advice he would give himself two years ago he said, “Start working with more people besides yourself. I only had myself two years ago when I was making music on my own and not having anyone to bounce my music off professionally. You definitely learn a lot from other people when you work with others in LA. Two heads are stronger than one.”
