Rising pop duo, Calabasas, and Marc E. Bassy release their latest single, “Voices.” With great relatability, “Voices” is a flawless end-of-summer jam that will have you thinking back to that one relationship where, at the time, you may have had things to get off your chest, but lacked the courage to do so. The track opens with a mesmerizing chorus by Bassy and segues into what can only be described as lyrical perfection from Watrcup; background guitar melodies by Franskiiz take the song to another level as well.

Calabasas (formerly known as The Image), have been taking the music industry by storm ever since they were signed by music mogul, Bu Thiam. Based in Los Angeles, the talented twosome consists of producer, Franskiiz, and lyricist, Watrcup. Collaborating with artists like Kanye West and  UnoTheActivist, Calabasas have already secured their spot at the top with singles such as “First Time Thing” and “Gory Love.” Drawing inspiration from their personal experiences, Calabasas has crafted an energetic sound with style elements of hip-hop, electro and R&B.

Bay Area singer-songwriter, Bassy, has mastered the art of pouring heartbreak into powerful hit records like his 2016 EP, Groovy People, and his 2017 album, Gossip Columns. Eager to take a more entrepreneurial route on the road to success, he decided to establish his own independent record label, New Gold Medal.

“New Gold Medal is just the idea that the standard has changed now for what success means in this industry. It's not just about having a song on the radio. It's about having an impact on the culture and taking care of your people, and that comes from ownership and independence,” says Bassy, who recently left Republic Records.

An inventive artist, Bassy gathers inspiration from the world around him and turns it into harmonious gold.

“We live in a world where everyone is more connected than ever, but feels more lonely than ever, and that's just the interesting thing to explore,” he shares.

He prefers to not categorize his music though, and consistently remains flexible.

“I don't think there's anyone that goes all the way from the hood to straight Top 40 radio like I do,” he says. “And that's a hard thing to put in a box.”

With the release of “Voices,” Calabasas and Bassy showcase their collective genius and give us all a taste of what they have in store for the future.
