Itzel Hernandez releases her latest single, “Best of You.” Featuring an emotionally raw acoustic sound, the sincere track explores the act of pretending to be the best fit for someone, when in reality, you’re not.
Based in Los Angeles, California, singer-songwriter, Itzel Hernandez, has a passion for creating music that brings people closer together. She began writing music when she was 15 years old, and although she was intimidated by what people thought of her music at first, the writing process allowed her to cope with the mental, physical and environmental issues that surrounded her at the time.
“By all means, I still deal with troubles, as we all do, but songwriting became my superhero undercover. I felt a little more at ease and under control when I finished a song, so I continued doing it since then,” shares Hernandez.
Hernandez focused all of her energy on honing her craft, and was amazed by the results.
“As you might know, the more you do anything, the better you become at it, and that's what happened to me with songwriting. I began writing every day, and each time I just felt as if the world had disappeared; and in that moment in time, my guitar, pen, and notebook were the only items that existed. Eventually, the more I wrote, the more confident I became in my music,” explains Hernandez.
Hernandez posted her first video when she was 17 years old. She remembers feeling self-conscious about her voice and appearance and other insecurities that she had at the time; however, she was more eager for people to listen to what she had to offer.
“My first few videos didn't get much feedback, but I still wanted to post no matter if people listened or not, because as long as I knew I made my mark, that is what made me happy and comfortable with my music and myself. I was happy that I finally put myself out there; posting online was the best way for me to show everyone on a big scale what I truly love to do,” says Hernandez.
While she may still grapple with her insecurities from time to time, she understands the importance of staying true to her audience.
“Sometimes I get a bit too insecure and don't post anything at all, but I always make myself show my audience a piece of my voice or music, because there could be someone out there listening and feeling the exact same way I did,” shares Hernandez.
Her ultimate goal is to make everyone feel connected through her music, no matter what their circumstances in life may be.
“I really hope that my music and my voice continue to inspire people and give them a voice. If they ever feel like they don't have a voice, my music is the voice for them; they are important, beautiful and amazing beings that will forever be accepted into my world,” expresses Hernandez.
Looking ahead, fans of Hernandez can expect a brand-new EP that will be released sometime early next year. The talented songstress is currently working on the production aspect for the songs, which she describes as both “eclectic” and “soulful.”
