Norwegian pop rock star, Ida Maria, drops latest single, ‘I’m Busy,’ from her upcoming EP, Dirty Money. The independent EP will be released via Altitude Music and was recorded over the last two years, between Norway and Ryan Spraker’s studio, in Los Angeles. The song was co-written with famed Oscar-winner, Anthony Rossomando (who wrote ‘Shallow,’ by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper) and co-produced with Mark Ronson.
‘I’m Busy’ challenges the roles of gender, tackling issues of misogyny in the music industry. Maria’s pulsing rhymes flow with ease, as she tells it like it is in the track’s catchy chorus. She describes the track as, “an experiment with trying to write a hip hop song, and using a woman as objectifying the man. Larger than life with my bling.”
Maria became disenchanted with the unrealistic ideals of beauty within the music industry, stating that, “A girl can’t put out music on a major platform without going through some twisted insane beauty ideal that doesn’t correspond with my own ideals of what a woman can be. A woman is a complex creature. There are not enough complex female role voices out there.”
Her upcoming EP, Dirty Money, includes fiery tracks, ‘California,’ ‘Celebration,’ and ‘Dirty Money.’ As a whole, the varied EP highlights the substantial growth of the artist’s songwriting career, and offers listeners a glimpse into the highs and lows that Maria has encountered on her road to success.
The talented artist is currently devoting her time toward farming, building her own studio, and making exciting new music on her own terms.
