Speaking to how “ILL” came to be, DRYFTKYNG shares,
”ILL” started out as a voice memo on my phone when I was just out and about hella feelin’ myself one day. Like walking around doing my thing feeling like the man. And this beat came into my head so i beatboxed the idea, then did another voice memo just freestyling stuff. When I got home I decided to just start with the voice memo and quickly build from there. Then I picked out my favorite lines from the freestyle and wrote a bit more, recorded, and had it all done in a day. I was juiced because I was hella feelin it!”
